Sprint Nextel Corp. is losing the head of the carrier's prepaid wireless business, Dan Schulman, to American Express Co. after less than a year on the job.
Mr. Schulman, who previously ran Virgin Mobile USA and was absorbed into Sprint when his company was acquired in November, was given the task of carrying out Chief Executive Dan Hesse's desire to "double down" on the prepaid business.
